Greasy Clean Hair

I’m just mad because my perfectly clean hair looks limp and greasy and I blame Redken color protection shampoos, which are just too heavy and emollient.

I have to go to my favorite holiday thing at church, the Christmas concert hosted by our ladies alliance followed by a luncheon. And I don’t have time to start all over and shampoo.

Time to do my baby powder trick. Augh. Why didn’t I pick up some dry shampoo when I was at Sephora (sound of angelic music) last night?

Mother isn’t happy.

  1. Dry shampoo? Does that really work?

My hair is baby fine, with absolutely no body – even though I color it. So I shampoo every day, which makes my scalp dry and flaky. I’ve tried the baby powder trick and all I get is powdery greasy limp hair.

I would love to have the option of not shampooing daily. So can anyone advise me – does the dry shampoo work on baby fine, no body hair?

  2. BTW – I love Loreal’s EverStrong and EverPure shampoos. They actually moisturize without wieghing down my hair.

  3. I used the redkin clear something or another. It’s in the blue bottle. It was super light weight. I also love love love the bumble and bumble seaweed

  4. Remember, you know how it feels and how you think it looks. Most people will not be as critical and the ladies will just be happy to have you attend.

  5. Ramona and all- I have baby fine, no body hair too and I use dry shampoo all the time for a mid-day boost of body and volume. It really works! I have tested almost every brand out there. I started with Klorane but the can never lasted as long as I thought it should for the price. My highest praise goes to Salon Grafix because they have colors that blend into your hair (I’m brunette) as opposed to white powders that do not blend as well. Also, the price combined with performance is unbeatable. This should be in every fine-haired or oily-scalped minister’s toolkit! My only worry is that it is somehow bad for the environment, but for now, ignorance is bliss (and good hair).

  6. The Tresemme spray-on dry shampoo is amazing. I also have fine hair, and it’s a life saver. So easy to use. Doesn’t have a color, so there’s no need to blend, etc. Love it!

  7. Mother may be mad, but she’s still pretty cute. I have noticed the blah-ness of my own hair, whose natural habitat is summer, when it can be a wild party girl of curliness. Same used to happen when I visited my parents in Phoenix. Blah.

  8. My fly-away curls would sigh with relief with the moisture. 🙂 I’m currently using Redken shampoo and conditioner for curls and boy, the ringlets are growing well this summer.

  9. You can pull off slicked-back hair with that nice suit and a face as fresh-looking as the one in your photo. Love the brooch, too. [Thank you! – PB]
