I just bought a dear friend a Barbie Princess Bible, so clearly I’m losing it here in some important way, but I need to ask if any of you have opinions on Jane Iredale cosmetics?
I had my flu shot today and am waiting for my bedding to dry so I can climb into bed and DIE because of how crummy I feel but before I DIE IN MY BED I was doing some plopping around on-line and found this:
I do love a good, subtle shimmer just at the top of the cheekbones to brighten the face (and it WORKS, I’m TELLING you — last week a young girl said she couldn’t believe I was over 30 and another woman said, “You look so vibrant” at a different time). I don’t want to look like an 8th grader at her Very Special Sparkly Princess Birthday Party, though.
So, darlings, please advise. At $12 a pop they’re not bank breakers, although I believe that other Iredale products are wicked pricey.
I think a lot of it depends on your personality. Me, I’m more earthy than sparkly, so wearing something like this would be out of character for me. If one is a more girly-girl, then I think it could be incorporated in a not-juvenile way.
Oh, Elly, just to clarify: I don’t think ANY grown woman should be wearing the colored ones if they’re sparkly (if they have a subtle shimmer and aren’t highly pigmented, then fine). And God forbid we should wear them in our hair and on our bosom as it suggests in the ad. I mean, maybe on a fun night out with your date but not in any pastoral context no matter HOW dressy!
It’s very long lasting and pretty much hypoallergenic. FYI my family owns part of the company but it’s still a great product line. The eyeshadow is cheaper than a lot of the rest of it.
I am sure you will feel better the day after tomorrow. But if you don’t, I’ve found that you can sort of trick yourself into feeling better by wearing bright makeup and a becoming sweater.
Is this stuff seriously made with real gold? That seems pretty rediculous to me.
No it’s made with real gold that’s where the sparkle comes from. That and naturally occuring minerals from around the world.
I don’t know the product, It doesn’t seem like an unreasonable amount of cash for some experimental make-up. But I really MUST know more about this Barbie Princess Bible. I can’t say that I as enthusiastic as I was about Rev. Barbie from some months ago, but still curious.
I can’t comment too much on the items you’re particularly looking at, but I can say that I LOVE their pressed foundation…it is the BEST foundation (liquid or powder) that I’ve ever used. I also love the brush I use to apply it, which is called the Handi Brush. AND I love their product called Lip Fixation, which is a long-wearing lipstick/stain kind of dealie.
A little subtle sparkle on eyelids or cheekbones is nice for evening, but the only time to wear it in church if if you are under twelve and playing the Angel Gabriel in the Christmas pageant.(!)
But I really love this kind of stuff for my stage work…
