Two #4s is cheating.
And it’s remarkable how many (more than zero, really) of these I have on my list.
Comment by Scott Wells — October 26, 2009 #
I’ll play!

Madge! I am SO allergic to Aromatic Elixir! I start wheezing when I’m anywhere in the room with it. Now you know how to keep me away if you need to — it’s like garlic to a vampire!

Oh, my GOD, these are amazing (especially to a younger lady still building her wardrobe)!!
1. Great, great, GREAT jeans.
2. Great black slacks (I have lightweight, cotton/rayon/etc ones for summer, uncut corduroy for winter)
3. Cashmere. As much of it as I can afford, which isn’t much, sigh. I’m a Boston girl born with poor circulation; cashmere is my secret weapon.
4. Camisoles (both skinny strap and tank style). Great for summer heat, fabulous for layering in the winter.
5. Cardigans. Of every style, sleeve length, color. Love them. Will possibly be wearing one for my wedding day, even.
6. Knit dresses. Breezy fun ones for the dog days of summer, great sleek black ones for winter and professional/dressy moments.
7. LUSH products. I’m still working out my perfect hair and face combinations, but their products make me feel pampered; a $5 bath bomb turns a bath into a true Zen moment (me, soothing cocoa butter in the water, a glass of wine, some Jane Austen…).
8. Fragonard’s Miranda perfum/eau de toilette. I got it the first time I was in France in high school, and haven’t worn anything else since. Love it.
9. Classic heels, slightly pointy toe, mid-height heel– in black AND red.
10. Flats of all colors and styles: loafers, ballet flats, the Dreaded Dansko Clog– they each have an undeniable place in my closet, whether for work or for running around the cobbles of Boston and Cambridge.
This has been absolutely inspiring; I love reading everyone’s answers.
NEXT: What’s in your purse/bag/tote? What MUST you carry around? Mine is Bare Necessities (wallet, keys, phone) painkillers (migraines, ahoy), lip balm, tissues, pens, iPhone headphones, hair elastic.
