Pigeons!
I have not forgotten nor forsaken you!
I am just crazy busy right now, thinking about the summer, planning for next year, wrapping up this program year, doing administration with my peeps, and opening a show at the end of the month! I’m playing Fraulein Schneider in “Cabaret,” which is a very fulfilling thing to be doing. Creative expression is always good and inspiring and I’m working with a great team on this show.
I have had a SPY at the Festival of Homiletics reporting frumpiness to me with PHOTO EVIDENCE that makes me gasp. Seriously depressing! WHAT ARE RELIGIOUS LEADERS THINKING, THAT THEY CAN GET AWAY WITH LOOKING LIKE THAT?
The hair. Oh, the hair. The outfits. I cry unto the LORD.
Meanwhile, I see on a pigeon’s Facebook page that the Terminally Naive are still unclear on the concept of why appearance and image matter as they whinge away about why we shouldn’t care what shoes we wear in the pulpit. A misguided, righteous soul sniffs that it’s a shame we have to have the shoe conversation at all, and I want to hand him a tissue and say, “Yes, dear, isn’t it hard to be alive in 2015 North America when the Church enjoys so little remaining honor and assumed cultural privilege that clergy actually have to put some effort into looking like they’re a relevant part of today’s world?”
GET WITH THE PROGRAM, HONEY.
I do want to let you Oregon readers know that I will be leading a workshop the weekend of June 20 in Portland, so stay tuned for more info on that.
And now off to do some grocery shopping, ’cause mama’s gotta put some baked beans in the Crock Pot so she has easy meals for the next busy week.
How have you been? Comment! MWAH!
