Aspirant to the ministry Claire just wrote,
I’m trying to aim for looking like the person I hope to be five years from now rather than the person I was five years ago.
Love this!
It makes me wonder, who do I hope to be five years from now? Great question. Thanks, Claire!

Five years from now I hope to be a really elegant and classy old lady. By then 75 will be the new 55, right?
For sure – then 76 will be the new 56 – and it will be me with the perfect wardrobe, great haircut and appropriate make-up
Yes! I totally do this! I’m 37 and have started only buying things (clothes, shoes, and accessories) that 40-Year-Old-Jillian would wear. She’s very chic and professional, you know. In my head, anyway.
Eeek. o.O
It’s a challenge to be on a trajectory and a tight budget at the same time. And I know the stuff I put in my closet this year is likely to be the stuff that’s already in my closet five years from now, because the stuff I bought five years ago is still in my closet. So, in the anticipation that I will need to look presentable for some combination of site placement / internship / credentialing interviews at some point within the next five years, and that I’m likely to be on an even tighter budget as a student than I am now, it just seems cautious to aim for wardrobe staples that not only work for the “frumpy casual” layperson I am, but also the professional I’m aiming to become.
Thank you, PB!
