I just got my hair cut a crazy amount, so here are some pics from that day (just 11 days ago). In my long hair pic, it's actually product-free (no Be Curly) because locks of love requires "clean, dry" hair.

When I stop hating my short hair, I'll take some pics and upload them for you. :-)

[Honey, I think it's all about identity and the power of the very long hair, and for that I don't blame you for hating the short hair. But I must say that it's absolutely beautiful and flattering and I encourage you every day to look in the mirror and say, "Good morning, beautiful hair. Good morning, beautiful self. I love my hair!" PB believes in the power of positive affirmation. Especially if you're affirming a TRUTH! - PB]

PB, your hair looks awesome. Are you still using the "It's a 10?" I'm considering buying a big bottle for my wavy, frizzy hair (that I'm now washing with Suave Naturals Conditioner--so far so good!). [Thanks! I'm just using the Deva Curl line: the No-Poo, the One Conditioner and the light hold gel. I just skipped the gel after my last shampoo and I'm seriously regretting it. I used a KMS curling gel instead and guess what? Blah, almost no-curl hair. - PB]

Sarah K, I haven't shampood my curls in at least 7 years. It takes a few weeks to get used to (and those weeks will probably include quite a bit of the lemon juice and/or brown sugar ideas from Curly Girl) but once your hair is used to it, it is so much easier and so much healthier and it looks so much better! My hair is still bouncy, still curly, not weighed down or product-laden or dull or funky in any way. I just use the Be Curly conditioner and then the Be Curly curl enhancer (keeps the frizz down) and I'm done! If I need a little extra shine/frizz-control then I use Aveda Humectant Pomade (a teensy little bit goes a long way!). Not a day goes by that I don't get a compliment on my hair.
Believe me, shampoo and blow dryers are the two most drastic things you can do to your hair--let it be healthy and you'll be happier! :-)

[Teri, I think we need a photo of your curls!! - PB]

Hey, PB, this sounds AWESOME, but I just remembered a curly-girl technique that I'm not QUITE ready to try-- no 'poo. You said you were using the No 'Poo Conditioner Gel thing, but have you considered going No 'Poo entirely?? I am awfully curious, but I shan't be trying anything drastic between now and my wedding next fall (eeep, no, no thank you!). Thoughts?

I'm a fan of the Low-Poo (just feels weird washing my hair with no bubbles) and the One Conditioner, and I finish with Aveda's Be Curly cream. Its so expensive at the salon - glad to know its available at ULTA.

Isn't it funny how things work out? You were really, really bummed about your haircut and now you've found a way to deal with it that is actually making your hair healthier! Yay!

I have been trying to make peace with my curly hair for so many years!
re: DevaCurl - I tried their Mist-er Right and hate-hate-hated it. It did NOT revitalize my curls and it smells horrid.
Any time that I do find a product that is good for my curls, it is promptly discontinued or improved by the manufacturer. >sigh<

Fantastic! Your hair looks super glossy and healthy! It's amazing to me how much damage blow drying causes - after giving up, I noticed that my hair was sleeker and slower at forming split ends. I'm so glad you found something that works for your hair!
