St. Peter’s Choir.
Just seeing this photo with all these huge smiles makes me want to join this choir immediately! Even though they’re Episcopalian and I’m a Unitarian!

I contrast this with some photos taken at one of my own denominational events that show a bunch of people slumped over in chairs, eyes downcast, singing hymns during what was supposed to be a happy fellowship hour. Those photos made me think, “Wow, I sure don’t regret having missed THAT.” YIKES.

A pichtya’s woith a thousand woids! I’m tellin’ ya! Smiles say so much about what your community is really about — candid photos are great, but unless people really look happily engaged in what they’re doing, they can do more harm than good to your public image. Clergy: make yourself the monitor of your congregation’s public image!

  1. Not to brag, but my choir also had a lovely picture taken. (Higher resolution photos are in the works as we are still learning these webpage ropes!)

Aren’t they cute? Granted I am partial to the black and white look on the choir above, but did I mention that Epiphany has an ASA of 30? We have a choir that cute for a congregation that size.

I love the ladies in front in chairs… that also says to me that they are thinking of persons with disabilities who may need to sit when others stand. Perhaps they were not thinking of that, but I feel welcomed anyway.
