Hi "PB", I like your blog. Now tell me about the newly-resigned Ms. Palin. Have you noticed that in recent photos, her hair extensions are lying on her shoulders, looking like a dead animal? The lady needs better quality extensions. But dead looking hair is the least of her worries. Cheers...

As a former Arizonan, Mrs. McCain's outfit is very regional. Little jackets and bright colors are very popular for "formal" attire. The influence of thousands of retirees on fashion in Arizona is unavoidable. In particular, I thought that the upturned collar and diamond broach looked very regal on Mrs. McCain. Perhaps a bit too regal.
Oh, and long hair can be a sign of affluence in Arizona. It is so blast furnace hot, if you have long hair it means you are in an air-conditioned home/office all of the time, not in a humid, hot swamp-cooled home or outdoors working the fields in the heat. It can also mean that you have acclimated to the extreme heat which means that your brain is slightly fried.

This isn't about Ms. Palin's hair, but I'm interested in your take on Mrs. McCain's wardrobe. She fits my theory that the burden of being rich is that you have to wear ugly, outrageous clothes, because what rich folks can afford to wear regular folks wouldn't even want to wear! Between the two of them, I feel like I'm in a time warp to the past...The hair, the clothes.. Wow!! Are they pulling us backwards, or are they so far ahead of the popular fashion curve that I can't even see that far? Just curious...
[I don't know... I'll have to pay closer attention. Some of it could be regional, some of it could be a deliberate decision to harken to a Reagen-era past (some of those clothes ARE back, too -- ICK!), some of it could be just conservative politics trying to translate itself into fashion -- I'll keep an eye out. Seriously, politicians and those around them give us a great opportunity to see how important our clothing and grooming choices are in creating a public image. - PB]
