As for the rabet, would you get a "button down" version or a "non button down"?
As for the emergent attire, aka: sandals, flip flops, and tees, I have a much lower impression of these guys when they wear this type of stuff. It almost makes me want to ask them where they went to college.

Peacebang,

This post about male vestments got me thinking, so I figured you were the one to ask:

What about those "Emergent" guys and their churches? As much as I dislike it, flip-flops, jeans and t-shirts seem to be the uniform of the hour. What's your take on this 'comfy clergy' trend? [Elizabeth, in the archives there is a wonderful conversation/debate between myself and one of the Emergent Church type fellas on just this topic. Look under "The Jeans Debate" and enjoy. - PB]

Those vests (not the clerical one but all those gorgeous ones to which you pointed us) would look wonderful with a regular clerical church (and by regular I mean full collar :-)), Larry. I'm envious of my brothers who will wear these vests. Great item, PB.

I did see women in lovely bright jewel-toned jackets (more swing than blazer, very nice) above their clericals at last year's (a year and a half ago) diocesan convention in my (Episcopal) diocese -- nice way to jazz up clerical wear and very tasteful and non-dowdy. Think I mentioned it way back then....

Larry and all -- try Wippell's rabet waistcoats (PDF catalog; clergy clothing http://www.wippell.com/catalog_pdf.php) or R. J. Toomey's brother's shirtfront, Google for retailers.
