What the …? This woman was a MODEL of elegance from age 14 on! What has happened all of a sudden? I have never seen her in this kind of getup, and I’ve been a Caroline-watcher (the name, you know) since adolescence. Caroline of Monaco has always dressed in understated designer mode or close to it, with perfectly cut clothes, for years and years.

I think the pods have taken over her brain or something. I can hardly believe this. You’re sure it’s not photoshopped?

I’m trying really hard not to blame menopause here. (She and I are about the same age and I am a little obsessed with this [peri]menopause thing right now and whether it really does make one a little crazy or whether that’s all a patriarchal invention. When I find out I’ll let you know.) But it makes you wonder. ’cause this is totally out of character for her.

The prince has never been quite the same paragon of elegance as his sister (this sister, that is; Stephanie has had a few fashion issues in her day) and his waistline has fluctuated in the last few years, so I am less surprised there. Plus he is not wearing flounces.

I’m still aghast and slightly disbelieving.

I thought the color of the purse (which even my 10 year old has disdained as too little-girly) was of a distractingly different tone from her lipstick/nail polish/ring/Prince’s pocket square. I’ve come back to the photo several times and I keep losing myself in the mix.

Which is not to say that I think she could look sort of cute, if she FOCUSED.

Larry, you’re right. The tux is simultaneously too small and too long…But! This is an important lesson for SweetieBang: your lady will need to be truly atrociously dressed to distract from your own frump. And since PB doesn’t DO atrocious, SB must be ever vigilant.

Bad dye job, too. The dark, solid block of color is too harsh for her, and looks very dull. Her hands looks nice, though.

Dears, Dears, y’all were so busy looking at H.R.H Princess Caroline’s hideous dress and bargain basement and unmatching bag that y’all neglected to notice that H.S.H the Prince of Monaco’s tuxedo, while appropriate in style, is a size too small. Don’t these royals have a valet or somebody to protect them from their own faux pas?
